Hi, welcome to my blog.

My First Blog Post

So, here we are.

A month into lockdown and my days of sanity are officially looong gone. I've finally decided to grow a pair and stop listening to myself beat down my own ideas, sooo welcome.. to my blog! I don't really know what the subject is or if I'll even tailor it to one subject, or whether it's just gonna be a pile of random waffle (essentially what would happen if my brain threw up on a piece of paper). It might actually turn out surprisingly well and I become the next JK Rowling. The possibilities are endless, but what is for certain is that I am in this position: laptop propped up by a cushion, a cuppa beside me, and hands on the keyboard at the ready to blurt out all of my unwanted opinions for everyone on the internet to see. Sounds fucking terrifying, but at this point I'm adopting a very "no-fucks" attitude to life so I hope whoever reads this shall gain something from my impulsive actions. If so, you're welcome. If not, I'm sorry to waste your time, but at least you can now answer your question of "I wonder if anyone has lost their marbles more than I have". I can assure you, I probably have. Nonetheless, My Makeup of Tea (wordplay on "my cup of tea" if you hadn't already caught on to my genius title) has been born as a result of me trying to find ways to restore my sanity throughout the current quarantining madness, so I hope it turns out to be something good and not just another project I start then give up with (fuck yourself, procrastinating perfectionism traits).

I suppose this is my first blog post so I should probably introduce myself. My name's Layla and I turned 23 this year, although I definitely do not have my shit together like a 23 year old should have, haha. What's more important is I love animals more than humans and I've been a vegetarian for 13 years. I'm also a freelance musician specialising in vocals, and my most recently found passions have been makeup and skincare - big time. I kid you not, I've spent half this month's wages on some incredible new skincare products, so I hope they're worth it. I'll definitely do a post on skincare - suffering with acne is a bitch so I'd like to help others with it if I can, by sharing my experiences with new products. I know this is all a bit brief and airy-fairy but all of these interests of mine, and points I need to make, you'll be sure to get to know throughout these reoccuring rambling posts. Trust me sis, I got a lotta time!

I think the main reason I wanted to start this up was to share my passions in hopes that some people would get something from it whether it be a giggle or some actual useful information, but predominantly I'm here doing this to pass the time whilst the government have us on house arrest. I'm waiting for the day when I can nip to Morrisons to get a five pack of doughnuts for 50p without having to dress like I'm going on a fucking skiing expedition. To be honest, as if I've even been leaving the house at all. I was too anxious to leave the house before a fatal virus broke out. At least there wasn't too much of a change in daily life for me. It's made me realise how climatised I already am to social distancing! It's bad, I know. My only friend is my cat. But trust me, there's less drama that way. I've also noticed I keep telling you to trust me; don't trust me. My advice is always bad haha.

With all of this being said, welcome to My Makeup of Tea. If you haven't been offended by my sailor mouth or sarcasm yet, I'm sure you'll enjoy what's to come! I'm gonna try and keep this a positive space but also true to whatever life challenges me to battle with on the day. I hope this is all okay, y'know like putting all my feelings and opinions on the internet. I'm aiming for this blog to be useful in decluttering my brain, and hopefully some of you guys will benefit from reading my posts, too.

I hope you have a lovely rest of your evening. I'm going to hopefully finish this reaaally slow season of Vikings that me and my boyfriend have been painfully lugging through. I'll try not to fall asleep for the third time running.

Best,

Layla x
